457 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria on Wednesday, August 5.

According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, Lagos topped the list with 137 cases while the FCT came second with 76 fresh infections.

Other states with new cases include Plateau – 40, Rivers – 35, Enugu – 34, Oyo – 25, Abia – 23, Delta – 12, Edo and Ebonyi – 11, Cross River and Kwara – 10, Kaduna – 9, Anambra – 7, Ogun – 5, Imo and Bauchi – 3, Osun and Nasarawa – 2, Kano and Ekiti – 1.

Nigeria now has 44,890 confirmed cases of the viral disease.  32,165 patients have been discharged with 927 deaths recorded so far.

  1. The country is a mess,am not sure the figures means anything to the citizens. The leaders are busy playing games with lifes here no solution to stop the spread or succur for the common man on the Street

  2. Not trying to be mean or hash.. Other civilised countries facing this same pandemic with even way better medical infrastructure still experience death toll… But Nigeria having worst medical services, record increased numbers day in day out but still have reduced death… Please who are they scamming… The stats are just mere numbers and Nigerians will treat it as such

  3. We’re aware of the existence of Covid-19, but the way this NCDC are promoting it is so unfortunate. Many govt officials have seized the opportunities to enrich their pockets. Hope we get out of this situation as soon as possible and get back to our normal lives.
